Srinagar, Nov 06 (HS): Anantnag West MLA Abdul Majeed Larmi on Friday reiterated his loyalty to the National Conference (NC), saying he could give up his life but would never sever ties with the party.
Speaking to reporters after a meeting with the party leadership, Larmi said all issues had been resolved in the meeting, though it might take some time for them to be addressed in full. Larmi had broken down in tears recently after being left out of the cabinet expansion.
“In the meeting, our leadership acknowledged that our concerns were legitimate and assured us that they would be addressed gradually,” he said. “Whether our concerns related to a particular department, the removal of someone, strengthening the party, implementation of the manifesto, or continuing the struggle for the restoration of Articles 370 and 35A, all of them were accepted.”
Asked whether he or other leaders were considering leaving the party, Larmi said no leader was going to quit. “No leader is going to leave the party,” he said. “I can give up my life, but I will not leave my party.”
Larmi had earlier expressed disappointment at being overlooked in the recent expansion of the Omar Abdullah-led government’s cabinet, saying his name had been on the list of probable ministers until the previous evening.
“I am heartbroken. I deserved it, and I say this twice,” he had said. He added, however, that he respected the party leadership’s decision.
