Delhi, 6 November (H.S.): The Supreme Court has rejected the bail plea of Shyamkanu Mahanta, one of the prime accused in the case relating to the death of Assamese singer Zubeen Garg.
The apex court has fixed November 30 as the next date of hearing in the matter.
Mahanta, who was associated with the organisation of the North East India Festival in Singapore, is among the accused in the case concerning Garg's death in Singapore on September 19, 2025.
He was arrested in October 2025 and has remained in judicial custody since then. A special fast-track court in Assam is conducting the trial, in which four accused are facing murder charges.
The latest development comes amid ongoing judicial proceedings into the circumstances surrounding the singer's death, which triggered widespread grief and public concern across Assam.
