New Delhi, 06 November (H.S.): The Delhi Police will extend financial assistance to personnel injured while performing law-and-order duties in the national capital. Police Commissioner Anurag Kumar has approved financial assistance for police personnel who sustained injuries while on duty on various occasions during the current year.
Under the approved scheme, personnel who suffer serious injuries will receive Rs. 25,000, while those sustaining other significant injuries will be provided Rs. 15,000. The assistance will be disbursed from the Delhi Police Welfare Society Fund. The department said its Welfare Unit was continuously working towards safeguarding the well-being of police personnel and their families.
According to the Delhi Police, more than 250 personnel have sustained injuries this year while performing various law-and-order duties. The injuries occurred during protests, sit-ins and other security arrangements undertaken to maintain public order. Taking into account their services and dedication, the Police Commissioner has decided to extend financial assistance to the affected personnel.
Under the scheme, police personnel who have suffered serious injuries will receive Rs. 25,000, while those affected by other significant injuries will be granted Rs. 15,000. In addition, if a particular case warrants higher financial assistance, the Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) concerned may submit a proposal seeking additional support. Such cases will be examined separately.
It is noteworthy that the Delhi Police introduced the ‘Aahat Veer Samman Patra’ in 2023 to recognise and honour personnel injured while performing their official duties. The initiative acknowledges the contributions of police personnel who sustain injuries while controlling riots and protests or apprehending criminals.
