Hooghly, 06 November (H.S.): A shocking revelation has emerged in the murder case of Mansa Bag in Hooghly district's Arambagh. According to police, the accused, Sheikh Sahid, allegedly murdered Bag and chopped off his right hand at the wrist as part of a conspiracy to frame his maternal uncle, Sheikh Biltu, in the murder case.

The revelation came during the reconstruction of the crime at Chandur Forest on Friday, where the accused reportedly narrated the sequence of events to the investigating officers.

On June 23, the body of Mansa Bag, a local resident, was recovered from inside Chandur Forest in Arambagh. His right hand had been severed from the wrist, triggering widespread concern in the area.

During the investigation, Arambagh police conducted repeated forensic examinations and took assistance from a sniffer dog squad and forensic experts. Eventually, the severed hand of the victim was recovered from an under-construction house in Chanditala. Police subsequently arrested Sheikh Sahid, a local youth, in connection with the murder.

According to the police, during interrogation, Sahid revealed that he had a dispute with his maternal uncle, Sheikh Biltu, who had allegedly abused him. The accused was reportedly planning to take revenge.

Meanwhile, after learning about the murder in Chandur Forest through social media, Sahid devised a plan to implicate his maternal uncle. He travelled by bus to Chandur and waited inside the forest for a suitable victim.

According to the accused's statement, he spotted elderly Mansa Bag alone in the forest, struck him on the head with a brick and subsequently stabbed him multiple times to ensure his death. He then allegedly severed the victim's right hand at the wrist and concealed it in his maternal uncle's under-construction house in Chanditala, intending to make the police suspect his uncle when the severed hand was discovered there.

The accused admitted to the crime and explained the entire sequence during the police-led crime scene reconstruction.

The revelation has left the victim's family devastated. They said they could not accept that Mansa Bag had lost his life because of a personal dispute between two other individuals. The family has demanded the strictest possible punishment for the accused.
