Shillong, 05 November (H.S.): Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma inaugurated the
shooting range of the West Jaiñtia Shooting Association at Khliehtyrchi in West
Jaiñtia Hills district, as the state steps up efforts to strengthen grassroots
sports infrastructure ahead of the 2027 National Games.
On the occasion, Sangma said he was glad to have supported
the association with shooting equipment and safety gear to help young athletes
prepare for the National Games, which Meghalaya will host in 2027. He expressed
hope that the aspiring shooters would make full use of the facility, train hard
and bring laurels to the state.
The inauguration marks an effort to expand access to
shooting sports beyond the state capital and encourage young talent from the
Jaiñtia Hills region. The availability of a dedicated training facility is
expected to provide local aspirants with an opportunity to develop their skills
and prepare for competitions.
Meghalaya's hosting
of the 2027 National Games has brought renewed focus on sports infrastructure,
athlete training and talent identification across the state.
