Thiruvananthapuram, 04 Nov (H.S.):
Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla visited the historic Sree Padmanabhaswamy Temple in Thiruvananthapuram and offered prayers to Lord Anantha Padmanabhaswamy, seeking divine blessings for the peace, prosperity and well-being of the nation.
During his visit to one of Kerala’s most revered Hindu temples, Birla prayed for the happiness, good health and welfare of citizens across the country. His prayers also reflected his wishes for national harmony, collective progress and the continued prosperity of India.
The Lok Sabha Speaker’s visit to the centuries-old shrine, dedicated to Lord Vishnu in his reclining form as Anantha Padmanabhaswamy, highlighted the temple’s enduring spiritual and cultural significance.
Located in the heart of Kerala’s capital, Sree Padmanabhaswamy Temple is among the country’s most prominent Vaishnavite pilgrimage centres. The presiding deity, Lord Padmanabhaswamy, is depicted reclining on the serpent Anantha, a representation deeply rooted in Hindu religious traditions.
The temple is also closely associated with the erstwhile Travancore royal family, whose rulers regarded Lord Padmanabhaswamy as the supreme sovereign of their kingdom. The royal family’s historic relationship with the shrine continues to occupy a distinctive place in Kerala’s religious and cultural heritage.
The temple, renowned for its magnificent architecture, elaborate rituals and centuries-old traditions, attracts devotees from different parts of India and abroad.
Its towering eastern gopuram, intricate stone carvings and distinctive architectural features reflect the rich artistic and spiritual traditions of southern India.
Birla’s prayers for the nation and its citizens underscored the importance of peace, public welfare and prosperity.
The visit also brought attention to the historic temple’s standing as an important centre of Hindu worship and a symbol of Kerala’s rich religious heritage, which continues to draw pilgrims and visitors throughout the year.
