Baramulla, Nov 04 (HS): Police in Baramulla have seized 11 vehicles and issued challans to five others in a special drive at the tourist resort of Gulmarg against permit violations, overcharging of visitors and breaches of the Motor Vehicles Act.
Gulmarg Police Station took action against vehicles operating in violation of permit conditions, “exploiting” tourists and contravening provisions of the Motor Vehicles Act, police said in a statement. The drive aims to protect visitors, regulate vehicle movement and maintain traffic discipline at the destination.
Police said the seized vehicles include an e-auto, Scorpios and Taveras. Five other vehicles were challaned for various violations.
Police said such drives will continue to curb violations and prevent tourist exploitation, and that all transport operators have been directed to follow permit conditions and the law. Violators will face strict legal action, they said.
“Police remains committed to safeguarding tourist interests, enforcing traffic regulations and ensuring a safe and welcoming environment at Gulmarg,” the statement said.
