Chennai, 03 Nov (H.S.): Tamil Nadu Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay will distribute welfare assistance worth Rs 1,100 crore to nearly 5,000 beneficiaries, primarily women belonging to self-help groups (SHGs), at a government function in Perundurai in Erode district on Tuesday.

The programme, which includes the distribution of bank-linked loans and financial assistance under various welfare schemes, is aimed at promoting women's entrepreneurship, strengthening rural livelihoods and improving economic opportunities for financially disadvantaged families.

Apart from distributing assistance, the Chief Minister will inaugurate several development projects completed in Erode district. Officials said arrangements have been made to accommodate beneficiaries and members of the public attending the function.

The venue has been shifted from a private engineering college in Perundurai to Sri Lakshmi Narayana Marriage Hall near Kanchikovil following a review of logistical and security requirements.

Revenue Minister K.A. Sengottaiyan, Handlooms Minister M. Vijayabalaji, District Collector S. Kandasamy and Superintendent of Police Kiran Shruthi inspected the venue on Monday and reviewed preparations.

Sengottaiyan said the Chief Minister would fly from Chennai to Coimbatore on Tuesday morning before travelling by road to Perundurai.

Elaborate security arrangements have been made along the route, with police personnel deployed at major junctions and public gathering points.

The Chief Minister's convoy will pass through Vijayamangalam toll plaza, SIPCOT entrance, Perundurai new and old bus stands, Kunnathur Four Roads and Anna Statue before reaching the venue.

Barricades have been installed along several stretches to regulate crowds, while arrangements have been made for people to greet the Chief Minister during his journey.

MLAs Ananth Mohan and Shanmugam, along with former MLA Jayakumar, also participated in Monday's inspection.

Officials said traffic regulation and crowd management measures would remain in force throughout the visit.
