Hyderabad, 3 November (H.S.): Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy on Tuesday directed irrigation officials to maintain close coordination with the Maharashtra government and continue discussions on the proposed Tummidihatti barrage, stressing the need to resolve pending issues through consultations between the two states.

Revanth Reddy and Irrigation Minister N. Uttam Kumar Reddy reviewed the project with senior officials at the Chief Minister's Jubilee Hills residence. The Chief Minister asked the officials to prepare comprehensive information on areas likely to be affected by submergence and ensure that all relevant documents, including existing agreements and other project-related details, were exchanged with Maharashtra.

Referring to the recent discussions between the two state governments, Revanth Reddy suggested that officials maintain regular communication and provide all information sought by Maharashtra without delay.

The Chief Minister said Telangana was prepared to provide adequate compensation for land in Maharashtra that might be affected by the proposed barrage. He also conveyed the state's willingness to deposit the required funds into a joint account of the two governments to facilitate the compensation process.

Revanth Reddy said Telangana would have no objection to Maharashtra conducting an independent survey to assess the potential submergence of land. He directed irrigation officials to extend full cooperation and furnish the necessary technical and other details in a timely manner.

The review follows discussions between Revanth Reddy and Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis on October 26, when the two states agreed to constitute a joint committee of irrigation officials to examine the proposed barrage, its height, water availability, submergence implications and technical feasibility.Dialogue with Maharashtra to Continue on Tummidihatti Barrage: Revanth Reddy
