Hyderabad, 3 November (H.S.): Eligible graduates can submit applications for enrolment in the electoral rolls for the upcoming Telangana Legislative Council elections even after the November 6 deadline, Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) C. Sudharshan Reddy clarified on Tuesday.
In a statement, the CEO said applications in Form 18 could be submitted until November 6 during the initial enrolment period. Applicants would also be able to file applications during the claims and objections period from November 25 to December 10, and again from December 30, the date of final publication of the electoral rolls, until the last date for filing nominations for the respective constituencies.
The clarification was issued to avoid confusion among eligible voters over the November 6 deadline under the Election Commission's schedule for the fresh preparation of electoral rolls.
The draft electoral rolls for the Warangal-Khammam-Nalgonda Graduates' constituency and the Mahabubnagar-Rangareddy-Hyderabad Graduates' constituency will be published on November 25. The period for filing claims and objections will remain open until December 10, while the final electoral rolls are scheduled to be published on December 30.
The biennial elections to the Telangana Legislative Council from the two Graduates' constituencies are scheduled to be held in March 2027. The Election Commission has not yet announced the polling date.
