Lucknow, Nov 03 (HS): Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi
Adityanath has emphasized the state's implementation of the Pradhan Mantri
Ujjwala Yojana (PMUY), which includes a Rs. 1,500 crore subsidy package for
free LPG cylinder refills for nearly 1.89 million eligible families. The state
government allocated Rs. 1,500 crore to provide free LPG refills, relieving
financial pressures on women and low-income households and reaching more than
1.89 crore families in Uttar Pradesh. Chief Minister Yogi contrasted the
current administration's welfare approach with previous governance, stating
that the double-engine government prioritizes public health, women's dignity,
and clean cooking fuel over dynastic politics.
This effort specifically targets Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala
Yojana recipients throughout the state, guaranteeing that disadvantaged
households do not have to return to conventional, smoke-emitting cooking
stoves. The financial push is especially designed to balance household budgets
during the high-cost holiday season, delivering immediate economic support to
rural and low-income women. The Chief Minister highlighted that the fundamental
goal of this distribution is to guarantee that economic restraints do not
dampen the spirit of the celebration, and that the light of convenience reaches
every poor home in Uttar Pradesh.
In a post on X, he stated, “When the government's priority
is its own family, the suffering of poor families becomes obscured by the
policies of the administration. In the previous government in Uttar Pradesh,
the situation was the same. Amid the politics of familism, millions of mothers
and sisters were compelled to spend their lives in kitchens filled with smoke. Under
the illustrious guidance of the Honorable Prime Minister Shri @narendramodi ji,
the double-engine government has prioritized public welfare over familism.
Through the Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana, clean fuel has been delivered to the
kitchens of poor families, providing the maternal strength with the support of
health, convenience, and dignity.”
“On the auspicious occasion of the holy festival of Diwali,
in Lucknow, a sum of Rs. 1,500 crore will today distribute subsidies for LPG
cylinder refills to more than 1.89 crore eligible families in the state. Our
commitment is clear. No poor family should again be compelled to return to
smoke-filled chulhas due to economic hardship. May the joys of Diwali
illuminate every home and the light of convenience shine in every kitchen. Heartfelt
thanks to Prime Minister ji for bolstering the happiness of maternal strength
and deprived families, and advance Diwali greetings to all mothers and sisters,”
he added.
