New Delhi, 03 November (H.S.):
Indian badminton star P. V. Sindhu has climbed to sixth place in the latest BWF World Rankings following her title-winning performance at the Hylo Open 2026 in Germany.
In the women's singles final, Sindhu defeated Denmark's Line Højmark Kjærsfeldt 21-12, 21-14 to claim her second title of the season. She had earlier won the Japan Open title this year.
The Super 500 triumph earned Sindhu 9,200 ranking points, helping her rise two places in the latest BWF rankings. A week earlier, she had broken into the top 10 after an impressive run at the French Open, where she climbed three places to eighth. However, she finished as runner-up after losing the final to world No. 1 An Se-young of South Korea.
Sindhu had last featured in the top five in October 2022, when she briefly occupied the fifth position in the world rankings.
Among the other Indian players in women's singles, Tanvi Sharma moved up one place to 21st, while Unnati Hooda slipped two positions to 23rd.
In men's singles, Lakshya Sen also improved his ranking following his Hylo Open title triumph. He climbed one place to reach 13th in the latest world rankings.
