Kolkata, 02 November (H.S.) : Despite the onset of November, the winter chill remains elusive across West Bengal, with temperatures continuing to hover above the normal mark in most districts. According to the forecast by the Regional Meteorological Centre at Alipore, partly cloudy skies accompanied by light rain or thundershowers are expected to prevail across several districts of both North and South Bengal on Monday.

In South Bengal, scattered light rain or thundershowers are likely to occur in Kolkata, Howrah, Hooghly, North and South 24 Parganas, East and West Medinipur, Jhargram, Bankura, Purulia, East and West Burdwan, Birbhum, Murshidabad, and Nadia. Similarly, the northern part of the state, including Darjeeling, Kalimpong, Jalpaiguri, Alipurduar, Cooch Behar, North and South Dinajpur, and Malda, may also experience light spells of rainfall in isolated areas.

For Kolkata, the maximum temperature on Monday is expected to be around 31 degrees Celsius, while the minimum is likely to settle at approximately 25 degrees Celsius. Due to the high moisture content in the air, residents are expected to face significant humidity-related discomfort during the daytime.

Officials from the Alipore weather department indicated that the current meteorological conditions are not yet conducive for a steady drop in temperatures. Consequently, the people of the state will have to wait a little longer to experience any noticeable winter chill, even as the first week of November progresses.
