New Delhi, 02 November (H.S.): Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Monday targets Prime Minister Narendra Modi of misleading the country and challenged him to an open debate over allegations that foreign forces were behind the Opposition’s protest movement.
Responding to the Prime Minister’s remarks about alleged foreign involvement in Opposition activities, Gandhi said he was ready to debate the issue with Modi. He also urged the Prime Minister to stop making what he described as false statements on the matter.
Sharing a news report related to the Prime Minister’s speech, Gandhi said that PM Modi himself had come to power with foreign assistance and claimed that the financial network associated with his party was controlled from abroad.
“I challenge you to an open debate on this issue. Any platform, any time. If you have the courage, come forward. You will not, because you are afraid of what I know about you,” Gandhi said.
The remarks came after PM Modi, speaking on Saturday, warned that social media was increasingly being misused to spread rumours and tarnish India’s image. He said countering such attempts was a collective responsibility of every citizen.
The Prime Minister also said that although Naxalism had been eliminated from remote areas of the country, the threat of what he described as “mental Naxalism” continued to persist. He urged citizens to remain vigilant against those he termed “mental Naxals”.
