Kolkata, 02 November (H.S.) : In a major crackdown on the illegal stockpiling of prohibited fireworks, the Purba Medinipur district police seized approximately 100 kilograms of banned firecrackers during a targeted raid in the Durgachak police station area.

Acting on credible intelligence regarding the massive hoarding of illicit explosives in a residential building, a dedicated team from the Durgachak police station conducted a search operation at a house located in D-Block on Monday. The raid led to the successful recovery and confiscation of a huge cache of banned firecrackers.

During the operation, the accused failed to produce any valid license or authorized documentation permitting the storage or commercial sale of the explosive materials. Consequently, the police arrested one individual in connection with the illegal stockpile. Ensuring complete procedural transparency, the investigating officers also videographed the entire search and seizure process.

A suo motu case has been registered by the police at the Durgachak police station under the relevant sections of the law. Reaffirming their commitment to public safety, senior police officials stated that such rigorous anti-firecracker drives and sudden inspections will continue uninterrupted to strictly curb the illegal hoarding and distribution of banned fireworks across the district.
