New Delhi, 02 November (H.S.): People who conduct their lives in accordance with the values and principles enshrined in religious scriptures experience contentment and happiness, former Chief Justice of India D.Y. Chandrachud said on Monday. He also called upon all living beings to abandon hatred and hostility and cultivate mutual friendship and goodwill.

D.Y.Chandrachud expressed these views at the concluding ceremony of the birth centenary celebrations of Mata Bhagwati Devi Sharma and the Akhand Deep Centenary Year, organised by the Akhil Vishwa Gayatri Pariwar at the Indira Gandhi Indoor Stadium in New Delhi.

The three-day festival concluded with a torch rally of the Gyan Yagna and a collective pledge for global welfare. The celebrations conveyed messages of thought revolution, human unity, social harmony and the creation of a new era. Speakers observed that the conclusion of the birth centenary celebrations did not mark the end of the journey towards social transformation, but offered an opportunity to carry forward the ideals and commitments of Gurudev and Mataji with renewed energy.

Referring to verses from ‘Pasaydan’, composed by Sant Dnyaneshwar, Justice Chandrachud highlighted the importance of human values. He explained the prayer's message of eradicating evil tendencies, fostering a commitment to virtuous deeds and nurturing feelings of friendship and goodwill among all living beings.

He said that following the values and principles outlined in religious scriptures could fill human life with contentment and happiness. It was essential to practise good conduct, mutual love and compassion in everyday life, he observed, urging all living beings to give up animosity and hostility and treat one another with friendship and goodwill.

Union Minister for Commerce and Industry Piyush Goyal said the life of Mata Bhagwati Devi Sharma represented an exceptional example of service, dedication, simplicity and harmony. He described the Gayatri Pariwar as a vast fraternity committed to human values, spiritual awakening and the welfare of society.

The spiritual discipline, sacrifice and commitment to public welfare demonstrated by Gurudev and Mataji, he said, had transformed the organisation into a broad-based movement of social consciousness. The ideals embodied by Mataji's life continued to inspire positive change in society through service, harmony and collective cooperation.

During the valedictory session, titled ‘Jyoti Kabhi Nahi Bujhegi’ (The Flame Will Never Be Extinguished), Dr. Chinmay Pandya, the festival's team leader and Vice-President of Dev Sanskriti Vishwavidyalaya, described 2026 as a ‘Sangam of Good Fortune’ for the Gayatri Pariwar. He said the year represented a sacred convergence of historic achievements, spiritual discipline and the ideals and commitments of Gurudev and Mataji.

Dr. Pandya said, “The Gayatri Pariwar is Gurudev's lost-and-found department.” He explained that every member of the organisation had a responsibility to reconnect human consciousness, which had drifted away from Gurudev's thoughts and ideals, and to establish his vision and commitments more firmly in society.

The Gyan Yagna torch rally held as part of the concluding ceremony conveyed messages of world peace, human unity, social harmony and positive thinking. Through the symbolic torch, participants called for taking the thoughts and teachings of Gurudev and Mataji to every section of society and transforming the commitments to individual development, family development and nation-building into a broad-based mass movement.

The conclusion of the three-day festival reaffirmed the message that the journey towards realising the vision of a new era, as envisaged by Gurudev and Mataji, would continue uninterrupted. The Gyan Yagna torch emerged as a symbol of enduring inspiration, a revolution in thought and the continuing mission of global welfare.

On the occasion, devotees from Delhi and other participants who had made significant contributions to the organisation of the event were also honoured.
