New Delhi, 02 November (H.S): A Delhi court has granted the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) two days of transit remand of Sourabh Chandrakar, a key accused in the alleged Rs. 6,000-crore Mahadev online betting app case.

Principal District and Sessions Judge Nikhil Chopra of the Rouse Avenue Court passed the order on Monday after the CBI sought two days' transit remand to take Chandrakar to Raipur, Chhattisgarh, for production before the Special CBI Court.

Chandrakar was extradited from Oman and brought to India on November 1. He had been located and detained by the Royal Oman Police on the basis of an Interpol Red Corner Notice issued against him. Following approval of the extradition request, a specially deputed CBI team escorted him back to the country.

During the hearing, Chandrakar's counsel, advocate Tushar Giri, opposed the CBI's request for transit remand. He argued that his client had been extradited in connection with a money-laundering case under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA), and not for the CBI case. However, the court accepted the agency's application.

The CBI will now take Chandrakar to Raipur, where he is to be produced before the Special Court in connection with the betting syndicate investigation.
