Kolkata, 02 November (H.S.) : Criticizing the Bharatiya Janata Party's (BJP) 'Save Democracy' rally in Kolkata, CPI(M) MLA Mustafijur Rahaman on Monday stated that BJP leader Nitin Nabin should address the questions raised by the opposition INDIA bloc in Delhi regarding alleged irregularities in the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls, rather than organizing counter-marches.
Rahaman, the lone CPI(M) legislator in the West Bengal Assembly, made these remarks while interacting with the media. His comments came on the same day Nabin spearheaded a massive rally in the city, joined by West Bengal Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari. The BJP's march was orchestrated as a direct counter-offensive to the opposition's ongoing national protests over the SIR exercise and their persistent demands for the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar.
BJP leader Nitin Nabin has to answer the questions raised by the opposition INDIA bloc leadership in Delhi, Rahaman asserted to reporters, emphasizing the need for transparency and accountability regarding the electoral revision process over political demonstrations.
