Kolkata, 02 November (H.S.) : Nearly two and a half months after the fatal assault on Sheikh Mafik in Indas, his son and Cockroach Janata Party (CJP) leader Abdul Hafiz approached the Bankura Superintendent of Police (SP) office on Monday, demanding the timely submission of the charge sheet in the murder case.

Accompanied by several CJP workers, Abdul met with senior police officials and submitted a formal memorandum seeking swift justice. In addition to demanding a thorough and impartial investigation, the CJP leader reiterated his earlier demand for the establishment of an international standard school in his late father’s memory.

The incident traces back to August 13, when a group of miscreants allegedly attacked Abdul Hafiz’s residence in Karisunda village under the Indas police station limits. The attack reportedly occurred in retaliation for Abdul's participation in a CJP rally in Delhi. Both Abdul and his father were severely assaulted during the incident. Sheikh Mafik sustained critical injuries and succumbed to them on the night of August 15 while undergoing treatment at Burdwan Medical College.

Following the tragic demise, the CJP launched widespread protests, demanding the immediate arrest and stringent punishment of all the attackers. Additionally, the party proposed the construction of an international standard school named after the deceased, among other demands. Acting on the complaints, the Indas police had subsequently arrested almost all the accused individuals involved in the attack.

On Monday, Abdul Hafiz led the CJP delegation to the Bankura SP office to firmly demand that the police file a comprehensive charge sheet within the stipulated 90-day period to ensure justice is not delayed. Anticipating the CJP's program, the district administration had fortified the Bankura SP office with heavy security arrangements since the morning.

Addressing the media outside the SP office, Abdul expressed disappointment over the government's inaction regarding the proposed educational institution. I had refused any financial compensation, asking instead for a school to be built in my father's memory. If the government fails to fulfill this, it is their failure, Abdul stated. Affirming his resolve, he added, Even if it takes five or ten years, the school will be built. I will construct it with the help of the public.
