Delhi/Hyderabad, 2 November (H.S.): Union Home Minister Amit Shah will lead the Bharatiya Janata Party's (BJP) 'Loktantra Bachao, Arajakta Hatao' (Save Democracy, Remove Anarchy) padyatra in Hyderabad on Monday as part of the party's nationwide campaign against what it describes as misinformation and organised anarchy being spread by the Opposition.
The padyatra will begin at the statue of Babu Jagjivan Ram in Basheerbagh and conclude at Mozamjahi Market, where Shah is scheduled to address the gathering. Lawyers, doctors, intellectuals, party workers and members of the public are expected to participate, Telangana BJP president N. Ramchander Rao said.
Union Coal Minister G. Kishan Reddy and Rao inspected the route on Sunday and reviewed arrangements, including security, for the programme.
The BJP's campaign comes amid the INDIA bloc's protests against the NDA government and Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar over allegations of electoral irregularities and vote theft. Opposition leaders held a rally at Ramlila Maidan in New Delhi on Sunday, demanding action over alleged manipulation of electoral rolls.
In Telangana, the BJP is seeking to counter what it describes as the Congress's misleading claims about the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) exercise.
Meanwhile, BJP national president Nitin Nabin will lead similar padyatras in Bihar and West Bengal on Monday. In Bhagalpur, the march will begin at Lajpat Park at 11 am and conclude at Seva Jyoti Chowk at 12.30 pm. In Kolkata, the second march is scheduled to start from College Street at 3 pm and end at Dharmatala at 5.30 pm.
