New Delhi, 01 November (H.S.): Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader R.P. Singh has questioned Congress leader Kamal Nath's alleged role in the violence outside Gurdwara Rakab Ganj Sahib during the 1984 anti-Sikh riots, demanding accountability from Congress leader Rahul Gandhi.
R.P. Singh alleged that on November 1, 1984, when violence against Sikhs was raging in Delhi and two Sikh men were being burnt alive outside the gurdwara, Kamal Nath was present at the site amid a crowd of thousands.
In a statement shared on social media platform X, R.P Singh claimed that Nath wielded considerable influence over the crowd. He questioned why, despite the seriousness of the allegations, accountability had not been established even after four decades.
He further pointed out that Kamal Nath continued to receive important responsibilities within the Congress during the tenures of party leaders Indira Gandhi, Rajiv Gandhi, Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi. Nath went on to serve as a Union Minister and later as the Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh, Singh noted.
Addressing Rahul Gandhi, the BJP leader said the Sikh community wanted the truth about the events of 1984, justice and accountability, rather than political protection or silence.
