New Delhi, 01 November (H.S.): The second day of the birth centenary celebrations of the revered Mata Bhagwati Devi Sharma, held at the Indira Gandhi Indoor Stadium, witnessed a historic confluence of yoga, spiritual awareness and the message of universal brotherhood.
The programme commenced with a collective meditation session, followed by an impressive demonstration of Pragya Yoga comprising 16 postures. The collective participation of trained practitioners set a new record, which was recognised by the India Book of Records and the Asia Book of Records. The certificates were presented to Dr. Chinmay Pandya, Pro Vice-Chancellor of Dev Sanskriti Vishwavidyalaya.
Addressing the gathering, Delhi Lieutenant Governor Taranjit Singh Sandhu described ‘Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam’ as the foundation of global unity, observing that the challenges confronting the world could be addressed through mutual cooperation and sensitivity. Members of the United Kingdom’s House of Lords, Lord Krish Raval and Lord Russell Rook, highlighted the importance of Indian spirituality, yoga and meditation as significant pathways to global peace. The Church of England’s Anglican Bishop, the Right Reverend Lusa, called upon humanity to move forward with the understanding that the world is one family.
Lord Russell Rook also invited Dr. Chinmay Pandya to attend the G20 programme scheduled to be held in the United Kingdom in 2027.
On the occasion, Dr. Chinmay Pandya, who led the delegation at the celebrations, said that true knowledge was enshrined in the human soul. He emphasised that yoga was not merely a physical exercise but a means of spiritual elevation and transformation in life.
Acharya Balkrishna, General Secretary of Patanjali Yogpeeth, remarked that Delhi was emerging as a city of yoga and culture. He said the austerity, sacrifice and vision of Yug Nirman associated with Gurudev and Mataji continued to serve as an inspiring force for social transformation.
