New Delhi, 01 November (H.S.): Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta said the people of the country were witnessing the true nature of Congress leader Rahul Gandhi and the INDIA bloc, whom she accused of creating an atmosphere of anarchy under the guise of defending democracy.

She said the country had not forgotten November 1, recalling that on the same day in 1984, a horrific chapter of the massacre of Sikhs was being written on the streets of Delhi. The wounds inflicted on thousands of innocent Sikh families, she said, remained unhealed even today. Against this backdrop, she alleged that the Congress was staging a pretence of saving democracy at Ramlila Maidan on the very same date, calling it the height of political insensitivity.

The Chief Minister made these remarks on Sunday while participating in the Bharatiya Janata Party’s ‘Save Democracy, Remove Anarchy’ march from Hari Nagar to Tilak Nagar.

She said that during the festive season, when Delhi’s traders, small shopkeepers and street vendors were working tirelessly to secure the well-being of their families, the Congress was intent on disrupting the city’s pace and damaging their businesses through what she described as political theatrics.

CM Gupta alleged that the Congress had adopted a pattern of spreading falsehoods, discrediting the people’s mandate, creating an atmosphere of disorder on the streets and making the people of the country and Delhi pay the price for its political frustration. She said this had become the established model of Rahul Gandhi’s politics.

The Chief Minister further said that the Congress could not erase the stain of 1984 by invoking the cause of democracy. Nor, she alleged, could it put the livelihoods of Delhi’s traders at risk out of frustration over repeated electoral rejections by the people.

Addressing Rahul Gandhi, CM Gupta said he should remember that the country could not be made to pay for electoral defeats delivered by the people’s mandate, nor could the residents of Delhi be made to bear the consequences of his political failures.
