Dhubri (Assam), 01 November (HS): The district administration has launched an eviction drive at Alamganj Ninth Block in Gauripur under Assam’s Dhubri district to clear around 600 bighas of allegedly encroached land.

According to district administration sources, approximately 500 families are living on the land identified for eviction in the first phase. More than 60 bulldozers have been deployed at the site to carry out the operation.

Elaborate security arrangements have been made to prevent any untoward incident during the drive, with a large number of police personnel deployed in the area. The Dhubri district administration has made extensive preparations for the operation under the Gauripur Revenue Circle.

Ahead of the eviction drive, several residents have reportedly dismantled their houses and shifted to other locations voluntarily, while others have started the process of relocating their belongings and structures.

Meanwhile, Bagh Sena leader Yunus Tamuli visited the eviction site on Sunday morning. Speaking to the media, he held local MP Rakibul Hussain responsible for the eviction drive, alleging that remarks made by the MP during the election period had prompted the government to initiate the action.

Tamuli appealed to the government to consider the plight of the affected families and take steps to address their concerns.-----------
