New Delhi, 01 November (H.S.): Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MP from Chandni Chowk and National Secretary General of the Confederation of All India Traders (CAIT), Praveen Khandelwal, has strongly criticised Congress leader Rahul Gandhi over his remark that people attending the INDIA bloc rally in Delhi would also shop in the city's markets, ensuring that traders did not suffer losses.

In a video statement released on Sunday, Khandelwal said Rahul Gandhi had ridiculed Delhi's trading community through such remarks. He asserted that the city's markets needed consumers and customers, not political crowds, and described Gandhi's comment as nothing short of a cruel joke on Delhi's traders.

Khandelwal said the livelihoods of traders could not be treated as a political laboratory, where business activities in the markets were first disrupted and then the claim was made that rally participants would compensate for the losses by shopping.

He argued that people attending a political rally came with a political purpose, not with the intention of making purchases.

The BJP MP further maintained that the interests of Delhi's trading community should not be linked to political rhetoric. He said the markets' actual needs were a steady flow of customers and uninterrupted commercial activity.
