Itanagar, 01 November (H.S.): Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Pema Khandu held
discussions with Major General Amit Nautiyal, General Officer Commanding (GOC)
of the Indian Army’s 5 Mountain Division, on strengthening infrastructure and
accelerating development in the state’s strategically important border areas,
with particular emphasis on improving the living conditions of frontier
communities.
The discussion focused on key developmental priorities,
including better connectivity, livelihood opportunities and improved access to
essential services for people living in remote border settlements.
Khandu said strengthening border communities through
infrastructure development and improved livelihood prospects remained a key
priority of his government.
The discussions assume significance as Arunachal Pradesh
shares international boundaries with China, Myanmar and Bhutan, with several
villages located in difficult mountainous terrain.
Limited connectivity and access to healthcare, education and
other basic facilities have remained major challenges for many frontier
communities.
The Centre's Vibrant Villages Programme seeks to address
these challenges through infrastructure development, livelihood generation and
improved public services, while encouraging people to remain in border
villages.
