Schools, Colleges and Anganwadi Centres in Malkangiri to Remain Closed from November 2 to 4

Bhubaneswar, 01 November (H.S.): All government and private educational institutions, including schools, colleges and Anganwadi centres across Malkangiri district, will remain closed from November 2 to 4 in view of the India Meteorological Department’s (IMD) forecast of heavy to very heavy rainfall, thunderstorms and the possibility of a cyclonic storm.

According to an office order issued by the Collector and District Magistrate of Malkangiri on Sunday, the decision has been taken as a precautionary measure to ensure the safety of children amid the anticipated adverse weather conditions and continuing rainfall in the district.

The closure will apply to all government and private primary, upper primary and secondary schools, Odisha Adarsha Vidyalayas (OAVs), higher secondary schools, degree colleges and all Anganwadi centres in the district, irrespective of their management.

However, teaching and non-teaching staff of schools and colleges, along with Anganwadi workers, have been directed to attend their duties as usual. Their services may be utilised by the district administration for relief and restoration activities whenever required.

The order further clarified that all examinations scheduled by the respective boards, councils and universities will be conducted as per the prescribed programme.

The district administration has urged people to remain alert and follow official advisories in view of the impending weather conditions.
