
Mumbai, 09 Oct (HS): Leakage in gas cylinder in the constriction labour camp within ITI, Powai campus led to a fire on Thursday night. Five people, inclduing two children were inujured in the fire. The fire broke out around 10.30 pm on Thursday. The injured were rushed to Rajawadi Hospital in Ghatkopar.
Two children who were
playing in the premises outside the labour camp noticed gas leakage and were
trying to search for location of leakage. When they were near the leaking
cylinder it blew leading to fire. They received burn injuries. The labourers in
the camp rushed to save the children and were also received burn injuries.
The security
personnel immediately shifted the injured to Rajawadi Hospital in Ghatkopar.
Four of the inured are reported to be critical and were advised their shifting
to Kasturba Hospital. One of the injured is being treated at the Rajawadi
Hospital.
Among the injured,
Ansh Ahirwar (12), Tahajib Alam (9), Shivkumar Sinh (34), Ishwar Sinh (37) and
Anil Kumar Yadav (23), only Ishwar Sinh is being treated at Rajawadi Hospital
and all others were shofted to Kasturba Hospital according to Rajawadi Hospital.
Police and
Firefighters rushed to the site and controlled the fire. The cause of the gas
leakage, blast and fire is being investigated.
The temporary labour
camp was established for the undergoing construction work at ITI, Powai.
