
Nagaon (Assam), 09 October (HS): The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) took the lead in the initial trends as counting of votes for the Nagaon Lok Sabha by-election began on Friday morning.
According to the Election Commission's official data, BJP candidate Devashish Sharma secured 4,761 votes, while Congress candidate Shivamoni Bora was in second position with 1,385 votes. All India United Democratic Front (AIUDF) candidate Maulana Badruddin Ajmal was placed third with 981 votes. A total of 127 votes were recorded under the None of the Above (NOTA) option.
Polling for the Nagaon Lok Sabha by-election was held on October 6. A total of 15 candidates, including those from the BJP, Congress and AIUDF, contested the by-election.
The counting process is underway, and the initial figures reflect the early trends. The final outcome will be known after the completion of counting and the declaration of results by the Election Commission.-----------
