Lucknow, 9 Oct (HS): Yogi Adityanath, Chief Minister of

Uttar Pradesh, said that the state now has 85 medical institutions and over

13,600 MBBS seats as part of the One District, One Medical College plan. Uttar

Pradesh's medical institutions have increased dramatically, from 36 in 2017 to

85 by 2026. The state's total number of MBBS admission slots has surpassed

13,600. According to Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, the state has moved away

from the previous administration's One District, One Mafia approach

and toward a framework based on healthcare security and local development.

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath emphasized the

change of the state's healthcare system on Friday, stating that the state was

transitioning from the necessity of seeking treatment to the promise of

healthcare security.

In a post on X, he mentioned, “Under the guidance of the

Hon'ble Prime Minister Shri @narendramodi ji and with the resolve of Antyodaya,

the BJP's double-engine government in the state has decisively advanced towards

making Uttar Pradesh a healthy, capable, and self-reliant state, leaving behind

the lax health sector arrangements that existed before 2017. The biggest proof

of this transformation is that the Uttar Pradesh, which was once identified

with one district-one mafia, is today establishing new standards in

the field of health services with the resolve of one district-one medical

college. Whereas the number of medical colleges in the state was only 36

in 2017, today it has increased to 85. Along with this, MBBS seats have risen

from 4,690 to more than 13,600. On one hand, this has increased opportunities

for youth in medical education, while on the other, it has expanded the

facility of quality treatment near homes for the common people. More than 10

crore residents of the state, covered under Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan

Arogya Yojana and Mukhyamantri Jan Arogya Abhiyan, are today living their lives

with better health, dignity, and honor, free from the worry of the heavy

expenses of treating serious illnesses. From the compulsion of treatment to the

assurance of health security—this is the new identity of a healthy Uttar

Pradesh.”
