New Delhi, 08 October (H.S.):

Passionate Manchester United supporter and Indian cricketer Yuzvendra Chahal is confident that the team can bounce back after the international break, climb the Premier League table and surprise everyone with its performances. Chahal recently visited Old Trafford, where he watched the Manchester derby from the stands.

In a conversation with JioStar, Chahal spoke about his childhood love for Manchester United, his fondness for following the Premier League and his experience of watching the Manchester derby live at the stadium.

Recalling his childhood affection for the club and his connection with the Premier League, Chahal said, “Manchester United has been my love since childhood, so whenever I get the time, I genuinely enjoy watching the Premier League. One of my favourite things is getting all my friends together, sitting with them and watching a big United game. There are always plenty of emotions, banter and fun involved.”

Speaking about watching the Manchester derby at the stadium and his emotions as a United supporter, Chahal said, “I recently watched the Manchester derby. When City were down to 10 players, I genuinely felt that United would somehow manage to get the result in our favour, and there were a few moments when it felt like we could win the game. Then seeing Haaland score and subsequently watching the entire VAR controversy surrounding the goal was quite painful as a United fan. But that is football — sometimes you get the result you want and sometimes you don’t.”

On his favourite United player and his belief in the team’s ability to make a comeback, Chahal said, “What I really like about this United team is its fighting spirit and unpredictability. Matheus Cunha is a player I admire greatly. The way he plays with energy, takes on defenders and constantly encourages those around him to push forward is fantastic. I genuinely believe this team can still surprise people. As a United fan since childhood, I will always believe in and support the team. After all, that is what being a football fan is all about.”

Manchester United will face Tottenham Hotspur in the Premier League on Saturday, October 10, following the international break. The fixture is scheduled to be played at Old Trafford.
