Chandigarh, 08 October (H.S.): The Punjab Government will organise a statewide Mega Parent-Teacher Meeting (PTM) on October 9 across nearly 19,200 government schools in all 23 districts of the state. Around 25 lakh parents are expected to participate in the initiative, which is being held under the theme “Har Din, Ik Kadam Agge”.The mega exercise aims to strengthen coordination between parents and teachers and ensure that every child receives individual attention according to their learning needs. During the meetings, parents will get an opportunity to interact directly with teachers and understand their child’s academic progress, classroom performance, attendance, strengths and areas requiring improvement.Teachers will share students’ report cards with parents and jointly identify areas where additional support may be required. Individualised action plans will also be prepared for students, focusing on their specific learning requirements and helping them make steady progress. Parents will be guided on simple and practical ways to support their children’s education at home.Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann said the initiative would help schools and families work together for the better future of children. He said every parent wants to see their child progress and the Mega PTM would provide an opportunity to jointly identify the next steps in a child’s learning journey.Education Minister Harjot Singh Bains said the government’s focus was on providing dedicated attention to every student and developing customised learning roadmaps. He described “Har Din, Ik Kadam Agge” as an action-oriented initiative aimed at nurturing the potential of every child and accelerating their learning.The Mega PTM is being organised as part of the Punjab Sikhya Kranti initiative to further strengthen the relationship between schools and families. School Management Committee (SMC) members will assist schools in reaching out to parents and encouraging their participation.During the meetings, schools will also provide information about various student-support initiatives available to children. SMC members will be acknowledged for their contribution and efforts towards improving school education.The government said the statewide programme is intended to ensure that parents leave the meeting with a clear understanding of their child’s current progress and a practical plan for supporting future learning. The initiative will cover government primary, middle, high and senior secondary schools across Punjab’s 23 districts.
