Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla expressed deep grief over the demise of Rupi Soren, mother of Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren. Describing her passing as deeply saddening, they said that she had always worked for the empowerment of tribal communities.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi, in a post on X on Thursday, expressed his heartfelt condolences to Hemant Soren, Kalpana Soren and their family members during this hour of grief. Praying for the eternal peace of the departed soul, he conveyed his deepest sympathies to the bereaved family.

Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla also expressed profound grief over Rupi Soren’s demise. He said that the news of her passing was extremely saddening. In this difficult hour, he extended his condolences to Hemant Soren and his entire family. Birla prayed to God to grant peace to the departed soul and give the bereaved family the strength to bear this immense loss.

Rupi Soren passed away at around 8.30 p.m. on Wednesday. She had been unwell for a prolonged period and was undergoing treatment at Hill View Hospital and Research Centre in Bariatu, Ranchi. According to reports, she had been admitted to the hospital with breathing difficulties and her condition had subsequently deteriorated.
