New Delhi, 08 October (H.S.): The death of veteran actor Nana Patekar has left the film and political worlds mourning, with actors, political leaders and fans paying tribute to the acclaimed actor. Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed grief over the death of the veteran actor and recalled his contribution to Hindi and Marathi cinema.

Prime Minister Modi said Nana Patekar had a rare intensity, uniqueness and powerful screen presence. In a post on X, he said Patekar brought remarkable variety and creativity to his roles and created characters that would be remembered for generations. Modi also recalled Patekar's forthright views and said his contribution to Hindi and Marathi cinema was immense.

Actor Riteish Deshmukh said he was shocked by the news and described Patekar as an unmatched and unique actor. He said Patekar's distinctive style and acting had earned him a special place in the hearts of audiences. Deshmukh also recalled his social and philanthropic work and said Patekar had been a hero in real life as well.

Union Minister Nitin Gadkari described Patekar's death as shocking and heartbreaking and paid tribute to the veteran actor. Gadkari said he shared a close and personal relationship with Patekar and recalled his contribution to Marathi and Hindi cinema over more than five decades. He said Patekar's distinctive dialogue delivery had made several of his characters memorable.

Gadkari also recalled Patekar's work through the Naam Foundation in water conservation and watershed development in rural Maharashtra. He said Patekar had extended support to families affected by farmer suicides and described him as not only an accomplished actor but also a socially sensitive personality.

Maharashtra minister Ashish Shelar said Patekar had left an indelible mark on Marathi and Hindi cinema through his acting. He recalled the actor's contribution to theatre, cinema and social work and said the Indian film industry had lost a sensitive, sharp and talented artiste. Shelar described Patekar as a true Marathi artiste who emerged from the soil of Girangaon.

Fans also took to social media to share scenes, dialogues, photographs and videos from Patekar's films. Many remembered him as an actor who brought the emotions of ordinary people to the screen, while paying tribute to his distinctive style, powerful dialogue delivery and acting.

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath described Patekar's death as an irreparable loss to the world of art. He recalled his contribution to Indian cinema through his performances and his social commitment, and prayed for peace for the departed soul and strength for his family and admirers.

West Bengal Chief Minister Shubhendu Adhikari expressed grief over Patekar's death and recalled his powerful performances in films including 'Parinda', 'Krantiveer', 'Prahaar' and 'Ab Tak Chhappan'. He said Indian cinema had lost one of its most powerful and distinctive voices and also remembered Patekar's simplicity, humility and commitment to social work and rural communities.

Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami also expressed grief over the actor's death, saying Patekar had established a distinct identity in Indian cinema through his powerful acting and dialogue delivery. Dhami said his contribution through various roles had enriched Hindi cinema and described his death as an irreparable loss to the film and art world.
