Bhubaneswar, 08 October (H.S.): Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi announced a waiver of ground rent for puja committees organising Durga Puja, Laxmi Puja, Kali Puja, Ravan Dahan, immersion ceremonies and associated cultural programmes within the Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) area during the current festive season.

The decision has been taken keeping in view the social and cultural significance of these festivals and the enthusiasm among the people during the festive season, an official statement said.

The ground rent waiver will remain effective from October 17 to November 18, covering the major festive activities scheduled during the period.

The Chief Minister also urged all puja committees to organise the celebrations peacefully, maintain law and order and ensure that the festivities are conducted in an environment-friendly manner.

The move is aimed at facilitating smooth organisation of the traditional festivals and related cultural programmes across the state capital during the festive season.
