
Veteran actor Nana Patekar has reportedly died at a private hospital in Dona Paula, Goa. He was declared dead at 5:20 am after doctors reportedly tried to revive him for around 45 minutes. Official confirmation is awaited.

Patekar, whose real name was Vishwanath Patekar, made his Bollywood acting debut with the 1978 film 'Gaman'. He went on to establish himself as a prominent actor in Hindi and Marathi cinema through a wide range of roles.
He received three National Film Awards during his career and was known for films including 'Parinda', 'Wajood', 'Ab Tak Chhappan', 'Yeshwant', 'Shakti: The Power', 'Apaharan' and 'Taxi No 9211'.
Patekar also earned widespread recognition for his portrayal of gangster Uday Shetty in 'Welcome' and reprised the role in 'Welcome Back'. His death marks the passing of one of the prominent actors of Indian cinema.
