Bokakhat (Assam), 08 October (HS): Asian Games gold medallist boxer Lovlina Borgohain became emotional upon returning to her native place in Assam’s Bokakhat and recalled the struggles and setbacks she faced during her sporting journey.

Addressing the gathering, Borgohain said that while trying to make everyone happy, she sometimes forgot to make her parents happy. Recalling the difficult phase after her defeat in 2024, she said she had almost forgotten how to begin her life afresh.

The ‘Golden Girl’ of Assam also appealed to the younger generation to remain committed to their goals and work hard to achieve success.

Borgohain heaped praise on Assam Chief Minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma, saying that everyone could see the transformation that has taken place in the state’s sports sector.

“Everyone has seen what the sports sector was like earlier and what it has become now,” she said, while highlighting the support and encouragement being provided to sportspersons in Assam.------------
