Imphal, 08 October (HS): Security forces continued their operations against militants, drug traffickers and illegal arms holders across Manipur, recovering a large cache of weapons, ammunition and explosives and arresting an alleged drug peddler and a militant cadre during the past 24 hours.

According to information issued by the Manipur Police Headquarters on Thursday, a team of Churachandpur Police Station arrested 35-year-old Ngamkhojang Kipgen from Misao Lhawom village on Wednesday. Police recovered 785 grams of suspected brown sugar concealed in 60 soap cases and a Pulsar motorcycle from his possession.

In another operation, Wangoi Police and Central Security Forces jointly conducted a search near the Vaishen River based on specific intelligence. The team recovered an SLR rifle with magazine, one SBBL gun, nine live rounds of different types and three wireless sets.

Meanwhile, a CDO/Bishnupur team apprehended active UNLF (P) cadre Md Karimuddin Shah alias Rafe, 48, from Kwakta Khuman Awang Leikai. Police alleged that he was involved in a grenade attack at Kwakta Terakhongshangbi in 2025. A Honda Activa and a mobile phone were seized from him.

In another operation on October 6, Imphal East Police and Central Security Forces recovered a large cache of suspected looted police weapons, ammunition and explosives from the foothills of the Wakan hill range under Sagolmang Police Station.

The recovered items included an SLR, locally made AK-47 and MP-5, four locally made carbines, two pistols, four locally made 12-bore single-barrel guns, 25 live rounds of different calibres, a No. 36 HE grenade with detonator, a fragmentation grenade, three mortar shells and an empty mortar shell. Radio-set chargers, an SLR bayonet, flare rounds, helmet, jacket and boots were also recovered.-------------
