Kokrajhar (Assam), 08 October (HS): The body of 47-year-old Mahesh Brahma, who was reportedly associated with BTC Chief Executive Member Hagrama Mohilary as his personal assistant, was recovered hanging from a newly constructed railway flyover at Khargaon in Kokrajhar district, police said on Thursday.
The discovery prompted police and a magistrate to reach the spot, following which the body was recovered and sent for post-mortem examination. Authorities have launched an investigation to ascertain the circumstances surrounding the death.
While the incident is being examined as a suspected suicide, questions have been raised over the possibility of foul play. Brahma's family members have reportedly rejected the suicide theory and claimed that he could have been killed before his body was suspended from the flyover.
BTC Executive Member Prakash Basumatary visited the spot and urged police to conduct a thorough investigation and examine all available evidence.
Police are currently questioning people and examining the circumstances surrounding the incident. The post-mortem report is expected to shed light on the exact cause of death.
Brahma was reportedly associated with the cultural sector and was known for his quiet and gentle nature. His death has triggered shock among local residents, while the circumstances leading to the incident remain under investigation.-----------
