New Delhi, 08 October (H.S.): Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta on Thursday inaugurated the ‘Plant Mandala Rangoli’ at the amphitheatre in Central Park, Connaught Place. During the programme, the Chief Minister viewed the plant mandala and interacted with those present. She said the mandala rangoli represented the beautiful and rich tradition of Indian art and culture.

Union Minister of State and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Delhi unit president Harsh Malhotra, Public Works Department Minister Parvesh Sahib Singh and MLA Ashok Goyal were present at the special event.

The Chief Minister said every plant used in the mandala was not merely a component of an artistic creation, but also a symbol of the government’s commitment to planting, protecting and nurturing trees and plants, as well as preserving and developing Delhi’s forests and urban green spaces.

She said that just as every element of a mandala comes together to create a harmonious and beautiful composition, every plant and green space contributes to building a healthier environment and improving the quality of life.

Gupta said the ‘Plant Mandala Rangoli’ also brought together the vision of ‘Viksit Bharat 2047’ and the resolve for a ‘Viksit Delhi’ (Developed Delhi). She said the resolve and confidence expressed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi through the message ‘Hum Karke Rahenge’ (We will get it done) had been reiterated through the unique rangoli created with living plants.

She said the message extended beyond the event itself and reflected a collective commitment to pursuing development alongside environmental conservation.

The Chief Minister said Delhi was not merely the national capital but also home to millions of people and a symbol of India’s diversity and vibrancy. Therefore, she said, the idea of a developed Delhi could not be confined to modern infrastructure and economic progress alone.

A developed Delhi, she said, would be one where nature, clean air, green spaces and citizens’ quality of life receive equal importance alongside development.

On the occasion marking Prime Minister Modi’s 25-year journey from public service to national service, Gupta extended her greetings to the people of Delhi and reiterated her resolve that Delhi would play a significant role in the country’s broader journey towards a developed India.

Union Minister of State Harsh Malhotra said the ‘Plant Mandala Rangoli’ represented a beautiful confluence of Indian art, culture and environmental conservation. He said the unique creation made from living plants not only contributed to making Delhi greener and more beautiful but also conveyed a message about society’s responsibility towards nature.

In line with Prime Minister Modi’s vision of a developed India, Malhotra said Delhi too was moving forward by pursuing development alongside environmental conservation.
