
New Delhi, 07 October (H.S.): The domestic stock market was seen recovering from lower levels during early trading today. The market had opened on a weak note, and after the opening, both the Sensex and Nifty indices initially extended their losses. However, after 10 a.m., buying activity gathered momentum, leading to an improvement in the movement of both indices. By 10:30 a.m., the Sensex was trading with a decline of 0.19 per cent, while the Nifty was down 0.39 per cent.
The BSE Sensex opened today at 72,965.38 points, registering a decline of 102.43 points, or 0.14 per cent. Soon after trading began, selling pressure intensified, pulling the index down to 72,520.73 points within the first half-hour. Thereafter, buyers stepped in, resulting in a gradual recovery in the index. Amid continued buying and selling activity in the market, the Sensex was trading at 72,925.81 points by 10:30 a.m., down 142 points, or 0.19 per cent.
Similarly, the NSE Nifty began today's trading session at 22,690.45 points, down 85.65 points, or 0.38 per cent. Selling pressure immediately after the market opened led to a further deterioration in the index's performance. During trading up to 10 a.m., the index fell to 22,578.25 points. Subsequently, buying emerged in the market, helping the index recover from its lows. Amid continued buying and selling activity, the Nifty was trading at 22,688.20 points by 10:30 a.m., down 87.90 points, or 0.39 per cent.
A total of 2,978 stocks were actively traded in the stock market so far. Of these, 1,247 stocks were trading in positive territory with gains, while 1,731 stocks were trading in the red after registering losses. Among the 30 Sensex constituents, five stocks were trading in the green with support from buying activity, while 25 were trading in the red under selling pressure. Similarly, among the 50 Nifty constituents, eight stocks were trading in positive territory, while 42 were trading in negative territory.
By 10:30 a.m., shares of major companies including Kotak Mahindra Bank, Dr. Reddy's Laboratories, State Bank of India, Bharti Airtel and Coal India were trading with gains ranging from 0.38 per cent to 1.52 per cent. On the other hand, shares of Titan Company, Bharat Electronics, Asian Paints, Bajaj Auto and Hindalco Industries were trading lower, with declines ranging from 1.48 per cent to 3.69 per cent.
In the previous trading session on Tuesday, the Sensex had closed at 73,067.81 points, gaining 685.34 points, or 0.95 per cent. The Nifty, meanwhile, had ended Tuesday's session at 22,776.10 points, registering a rise of 220.35 points, or 0.98 per cent.
