Union Minister Nitin Gadkari gave approval
Prayagraj, 7 Oct (HS):
People will soon be relieved from the daily traffic jams and heavy
traffic on the Prayagraj-Mirzapur National Highway No. 35. Union Minister for
Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari has formally approved a plan to widen
the road from two to four lanes, according to a statement to Members of
Parliament.
MP representative Vinay Kushwaha stated that MP Ujjwal Raman
Singh personally met Union Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari in New Delhi on March
6, 2026, to inform him of the traffic jams on the Mirzapur road and, fearing
the situation would worsen in the future, submitted a letter demanding road
widening. The Ministry of Road Transport has taken cognizance of this decision.
In his letter, the MP drew attention to the long traffic jams at the Mughari
toll plaza and the inconvenience caused to travelers and pilgrims.
Union Minister Nitin Gadkari, in a letter to the MP, stated
that a detailed report has been received from officials of the National
Highways Authority of India (NHAI). A consultant has been appointed to prepare
a detailed project report (DPR) for the project, and the report is in progress.
Traffic will be safe and jam-free: The four-laning of the
highway will make travel between Prayagraj and Mirzapur safer, smoother, and
more jam-free. This will provide significant relief to local residents as well
as pilgrims visiting the area.
