New Delhi, 07 October (H.S.): Prime Minister Narendra Modi, as has been his practice, began his social media posts this morning with a message on the spirit of service through a ‘Subhashitam’. Shortly thereafter, in a second post, he was seen offering prayers at the renowned Shri Vinayak Temple in the national capital. He prayed to Lord Ganesha for the welfare and prosperity of the country.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi wrote,“Today, I performed worship and rituals at the Shri Vinayak Temple in New Delhi. I prayed to Lord Shri Ganesha for the happiness, prosperity, and good health of my family members across the country. May the grace of Vighnaharta bring welfare to all, and may the nation continue to advance on the path of continuous progress.”

Earlier, in a ‘Subhashitam’ posted on X, he shared the following verse:

“Nityaṁ paricareccaiva tad vai sukṛtam uttamam.

Kīrtiṁ puṇyaṁ yaśo lokān prāpsyase rājasattama.”

The verse is taken from the Ayodhya Kanda of the Valmiki Ramayana (Sarga 24, Shloka 32). Through the verse, the Prime Minister conveyed a message highlighting the importance and virtue of selfless service.

The post explained its meaning as follows: “A person should always cultivate a spirit of service, for remaining devoted to service with sincerity is regarded as the highest virtuous act in the world. By engaging in service, a person attains fame, honour and the highest realms.”

The verse appears in the context of Lord Rama preparing to leave for exile. At that time, his mother, Kaushalya, explains to Sita the importance of the duties of a devoted wife and of serving her husband’s parents.
