Guwahati, 07 October (H.S.): The Assam government has ordered a major reshuffle in the state police department, transferring and posting more than 35 officers of different ranks, including deputy commissioners of police (DCPs), additional superintendents of police and battalion commandants.

As part of the reshuffle, Mahato Amitkumar Sidhiprasad has been appointed Senior SP (Security-I) to Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, replacing Utpal Bayan. Bayan has been posted as DCP (Border), Guwahati Police Commissionerate, in place of Mahato.

Nirmal Baishya, Commandant of the 23rd Assam Police Battalion (APBn), Siloni, has been transferred and posted as Deputy Director of Fire and Emergency Services, Guwahati. Ananda Tokbi, Commandant of the 6th Assam Commando Battalion (Urban Operations and Law and Order), Sadiya, will succeed Baishya as Commandant of the 23rd APBn.

Geetanjali Doley, Commandant of the 15th APBn, Sribhumi, has been appointed DCP (Protocol), Guwahati Police Commissionerate, replacing Iftakhar Ali. Ali has been transferred and posted as SSP (FRRO), Barpeta.

Deborshi Choudhury, Additional SP (HQ), Biswanath, will take charge as Commandant of the 15th APBn. Amit Raj Choudhury, ASP (HQ), Bajali, has been posted as Additional SP (HQ), Biswanath, succeeding Deborshi Choudhury.

Meanwhile, Bhargav Sanjeevan Goswami, who recently returned from central deputation, has been posted as ASP (HQ), Kokrajhar.

The notification covers a wide range of transfers and new postings across various districts, police units and specialised wings of the Assam Police as part of the administrative reshuffle.------------
