Nagaon Lok Sabha by-election concludes peacefully with 76.19% voter turnout

Guwahati, 07 October (H.S.): Polling for the by-election to the 9th Nagaon Lok Sabha constituency concluded peacefully on October 6, with a voter turnout of 76.19%, according to the Office of the Chief Electoral Officer, Assam on Wednesday.

Polling was conducted from 7 am across the constituency, which covers parts of Nagaon and Morigaon election districts. The election authorities said the polling process remained orderly and peaceful throughout the day. The General Observer has also observed that there is no requirement for repolling at any polling station.

Long queues of voters were reported at polling stations as citizens exercised their franchise. The authorities had made adequate security arrangements to maintain law and order and facilitate the smooth conduct of polling.

Necessary assistance and facilities were also provided to senior citizens, persons with disabilities and other voters at polling stations.

Chief Electoral Officer, Assam, Anurag Goel, thanked the voters of the constituency for their active participation and cooperation in the electoral process.

Goel also appreciated the polling personnel, security forces and all other officials involved in the conduct of the by-election, saying their dedicated efforts helped ensure that polling was completed peacefully and in an orderly manner.
