NCR Hits the Magic Figure of 11111111 Saplings Under ‘Ek Ped
Maa Ke Naam’ Campaign
Prayagraj, 7 Oct (HS): North Central Railway (NCR) has
achieved a remarkable environmental milestone under the ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam’
campaign by crossing the one-crore mark and reaching a grand total of
1,11,11,111 (One Crore Eleven Lakh Eleven Thousand One Hundred and Eleven)
saplings planted this financial year. To commemorate this landmark achievement,
General Manager Naresh Pal Singh planted the symbolic One Crore Eleven Lakh
Eleven Thousand One Hundred and Eleventh sapling at a special event held at
Rail Gaon, Subedarganj, accompanied by senior headquarters officers who joined in
planting species like Litchi, Tulsi, and Mango.
The green initiative originally gained momentum on 5th
June, World Environment Day, when an ambitious target of planting two crore
saplings across NCR’s jurisdiction was set for the current financial year.
Urging all three divisions to contribute actively toward this goal, GM Naresh
Pal Singh led a concerted push that saw Prayagraj Division lead with 43.44 lakh
saplings, followed by Jhansi Division with 42.09 lakh, and Agra Division
contributing 25.58 lakh saplings.
The drive reached its latest peak today as over 13 lakh
saplings were planted in a single day across more than 300 railway stations and
colonies spanning major cities, including Aligarh, Agra, Mathura, Kanpur,
Jhansi, Banda, Mirzapur, and Gwalior. To facilitate this massive effort, NCR
identified various wastelands, cleared accumulated trackside scrap, and
reclaimed encroached lands, while also partnering closely with local NGOs and
the State Forest Department.
Under the deeply emotional banner of ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam,’
which reflects a mother’s nurturing care, these growing trees will transform
railway premises into greener spaces, offering passengers and staff cleaner
air, shade, and a healthier environment. NCR remains fully committed to
ensuring the protection and care of these newly planted saplings as it
continues its steady march toward its ultimate target of two crore trees.
