Guwahati, 07 October (H.S.): The Model Code of Conduct (MCC) imposed in connection with the Silchar Municipal Corporation Election, 2026, was lifted with immediate effect on Wednesday following the declaration of the election results.

The State Election Commission said that with the declaration of the results, the election process for the Silchar Municipal Corporation has been completed. Accordingly, the MCC applicable to the areas covered by the election ceased to be in force from October 7, 2026.

The State Election Commission issued a notification, numbered SEC.83/2022/253, on Wednesday announcing the lifting of the Model Code of Conduct with immediate effect.------------
