Piyush Goyal Meets Top Executives of Companies in the United States


New Delhi, 07 October (H.S.): Union Minister for Commerce and Industry Piyush Goyal held meetings with senior executives of several leading US companies during his visit to the United States, inviting them to explore investment and business opportunities in India.

During his US visit, Goyal held a series of meetings in New York this week with senior leaders of prominent American companies to discuss opportunities for strengthening India-US trade ties and to invite leading US companies to explore investment opportunities in India.

Goyal met Jonathan Gray, Chairman and Chief Operating Officer (COO) of Blackstone, and Prakash Melwani, Chairman of Blackstone’s International Private Equity business. Discussions focused on Blackstone’s investments in India and opportunities to further expand partnerships across various sectors.

Goyal also met George Walker, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Neuberger Berman, along with senior members of the firm’s leadership team. The discussions centred on opportunities to deepen investment ties and strengthen partnerships in financial and wealth management services.

During his meeting with Stéphane de La Faverie, President and CEO of The Estée Lauder Companies, Goyal discussed growth opportunities in India, including expanding manufacturing and sourcing operations, as well as the country’s growing beauty and personal care market.

According to the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, Goyal’s meeting with Arvind Krishna, Chairman and CEO of IBM, focused on further strengthening IBM’s engagement in India and expanding collaboration in artificial intelligence, cloud infrastructure, quantum computing and other emerging technologies.

During his meeting with Michel A. Khalaf, President and CEO of MetLife, discussions centred on the company’s growth opportunities in India and the expansion of the insurance and financial services sectors.

Goyal also met William E. Ford, Chairman and CEO of General Atlantic, to discuss opportunities to further strengthen the company’s investment and business ties with India.

He also met Mark Tucker, Non-Executive Chairman of AIA Group. The discussions focused on AIA’s engagement in India and opportunities in the insurance and financial services sectors, including in the context of India’s vision of “Insurance for All by 2047.”
