
New Delhi, 07 October (H.S.): Global markets are providing mixed signals today. US markets closed with gains in the previous session, while Dow Jones futures are currently trading marginally lower. European markets also managed to close higher in the previous session. Asian markets, meanwhile, are generally witnessing selling pressure today.
US markets remained firmly supported by buying during the previous session amid a decline in US Treasury yields and signs of stability in crude oil prices. The Dow Jones Industrial Average gained 253.14 points, or 0.49 per cent, to close at 51,521.04 points. Similarly, the S&P 500 Index ended the previous session at 7,818.93 points, registering a gain of 0.58 per cent. The Nasdaq also advanced 122.48 points, or 0.45 per cent, to close at 27,599.79 points. Meanwhile, Dow Jones futures are currently trading 0.07 per cent lower at 51,486.70 points.
European markets also remained upbeat during the previous session. The FTSE Index closed 0.42 per cent higher at 10,541.69 points. Similarly, the CAC Index ended the previous session at 7,865.07 points, registering a gain of 0.39 per cent. The DAX Index also jumped 194.98 points, or 0.77 per cent, to end the previous session at 25,449.19 points.
Asian markets are witnessing pressure today. Of the nine Asian markets being tracked, seven indices are trading in the red, while two are holding in positive territory. The Shanghai Composite Index has gained 0.31 per cent to reach 3,842.19 points. Similarly, the SET Composite Index has risen 0.24 per cent to 1,586.08 points.
On the other hand, GIFT Nifty is trading 134.50 points, or 0.59 per cent, lower at 22,639.50 points. Similarly, the Jakarta Composite Index has slipped 0.63 per cent to 6,153.99 points. The KOSPI Index is witnessing a significant decline today and is currently down 0.99 per cent at 6,872.87 points.
The Nikkei Index is also facing sustained pressure today. It has fallen 527.98 points, or 0.75 per cent, to 70,156 points. Meanwhile, the Hang Seng Index is trading 160.56 points, or 0.67 per cent, lower at 24,120 points; the Straits Times Index is down 0.15 per cent at 5,620.18 points; and the Taiwan Weighted Index is marginally lower by 0.03 per cent at 49,809.52 points.
