
Guwahati, 07 October (H.S.): ESIC Medical College & Hospital (ESICMCH), Beltola, Guwahati, has expanded its healthcare and sustainability initiatives with the inauguration of a Panchakarma Unit and a solar-powered hot water supply system.
The two facilities were inaugurated on Wednesday by Dr. Alaka Pal, Medical Commissioner (AYUSH) and Medical Commissioner, North Eastern Zone, ESIC, in the presence of Dean Professor (Dr.) Bhaskar Borgohain, Professor (Dr.) Mriganka Barua, specialists, senior officials, faculty members and hospital staff.
According to Dr. Pankaj Kalita, Deputy Medical Superintendent (AYUSH), the Panchakarma Unit is among 11 such units recently approved by ESIC across the country. The facility is expected to strengthen AYUSH-based healthcare and support the delivery of integrated and holistic treatment to ESIC insured persons and their dependants.
The newly commissioned hot water system for patients will run entirely on solar energy. The initiative is aimed at reducing conventional energy consumption, promoting environmental sustainability and advancing ESIC's “Green Hospital” concept.
Following the inauguration, Dr. Pal reviewed ongoing developmental works at the medical college and hospital. She also interacted with patients to receive feedback on the healthcare services being provided to them.
She subsequently met heads of various departments and MBBS students and reviewed academic activities, patient care and infrastructure development at the institution.
Dr. Kalita said the new facilities reflected ESIC's continued efforts to provide integrated, sustainable and patient-centric healthcare services to its insured persons and beneficiaries. -----------
